Job description

Sanford Rose is looking for a temporary Database Administrator on a contract basis to assist a client within their manufacturing company. This role will help bridge the gap on their team for about 2-3 months., * Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments in a hybrid (on-prem/cloud) setup.

  • Maintain strong standards for performance, availability, security, and data integrity.
  • Own backup, recovery, and business continuity processes; test and document procedures.
  • Plan and execute patching, upgrades, and maintenance with minimal disruption.
  • Monitor capacity and performance trends; proactively remediate bottlenecks.
  • Build and optimize T-SQL (queries, views, stored procedures) to support business applications and reporting.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to query performance, indexing, and database design.
  • Support multiple databases across business units/locations; maintain consistent data standards and governance.
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver reliable operational reporting and analytics.
  • Support and enhance BI dashboards and reporting datasets; ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide documentation, best practices, and occasional guidance to internal teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a SQL Server DBA and/or SQL Development capacity.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration and performance tuning.
  • Advanced T-SQL skills and experience with optimization (indexes, execution plans, query refactoring).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting hybrid environments (on-prem plus cloud-hosted SQL).
  • Solid understanding of security, permissions, and access control in SQL Server.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Preferred: Experience supporting data/reporting tied to ERP, inventory, or warehouse/logistics systems.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with modern BI tools (e.g., Power BI or similar) and building/optimizing reporting datasets.
  • Preferred: Exposure to ETL/data pipeline concepts and tools (SSIS/SSRS or comparable).
  • Preferred: Experience in multi-site or multi-entity organizations.
  • Preferred: Understanding of operational KPIs in manufacturing, distribution, or service environments.
