Bi-Lingual Family Support Specialist

The Bi-Lingual Family Support Specialist provides varied types of support, advocacy, and education to families of adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Program services include education on aspects of the illness in both an individual family and group setting, family consultations, linkage to community resources and supports, assisting with navigating the mental health system and advocacy issues, and providing respite to families.

Responsibilities to Include:

· Complete all required chart documentation and data reporting in compliance with DMHAS Intensive Family Support Service regulations.

· Monitor the progress of families through home and office visits, telehealth and phone calls, and work with families in defining new goals.

· Maintain a day-to-day working relationship with providers in the county to ensure the coordination of services and promote collaboration.

· Work with families in the development of a support plan designed to promote wellbeing and growth toward personal and family goals.

· Assist families in the identification and development of coping strategies related to daily stresses, keeping in mind the goal of client self-sufficiency.

· Assist families in accessing community resources.

· Advocate with and/or on behalf of the family for needed and desired community resources.

· Participate in meetings with other service providers related to comprehensive service planning.

· Problem-solve with families to prevent crises and to navigate the mental health system during crises.

· Participation in the rotation of on-call duties.

· Work collaboratively with colleagues within IFSS and with other MHANJ programs.

· Assist in the development of multi-family psychoeducation groups and webinars.

· Meet for weekly supervision.

· Perform all other duties, as assigned by supervisor., * Are you willing to work 12 hours per week, from 5pm to 9pm, 3 days per week?

· Master’s degree with related experience in the mental health field or:

· BSW/BA degree in social sciences with a minimum of two years’ experience in the mental

health field.

· Bilingual (Spanish Speaking and Writing/Reading) Required *

· Good communication Skills

· Ability to interact with community agencies

· Good organizational skills

· Able to work independently

· Valid NJ driver’s license

· Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Suite Applications

· Valid NJ Driver’s License in good standing & reliable transportation a must, * Have you worked a minimum of 2 years in the NJ mental health field?
