Bi-Lingual Family Consultant

The Family Consultant provides case management, family support, and community-based services to children and families participating in the Connecticut Early Years Program. Services are delivered in homes, childcare settings, community locations, and office settings based on family needs.

Connecticut Early Years is designed to strengthen childcare services and support working families through individualized consultation, family engagement, community resource coordination, parenting support, and collaboration with childcare providers and educators.

Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency is required for this position. About Connecticut Early Years

The Connecticut Early Years Program enhances community childcare services by leveraging the expertise and infrastructure of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) framework. The program supports families through:

• Individualized family consultation
• Goal identification and planning
• Regular meetings with families and teachers
• Connections to community resources and services
• Parenting support and education
• Peer support facilitation

Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Service Delivery

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and family engagement activities.
• Develop service plans and family contracts.
• Implement and monitor service plans, modifying them as needed.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to community resources and services.
• Provide case management and ongoing support services.
• Collaborate with community partners to support family needs.
• Meet monthly with teachers to discuss shared children and families.

Documentation & Reporting

• Complete all required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
• Maintain records in accordance with agency policies, program requirements, and funding source regulations.

Community Collaboration

• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with childcare centers, schools, hospitals, courts, and community organizations.
• Advocate for and connect families to community resources and supports.

Team Participation

• Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to meet program and client needs.
• Participate in agency committees, task forces, and problem-solving teams as appropriate.
• Represent The Village in community groups and committees as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related Human Services field preferred., * 2 to 3 years of experience in a human services setting preferred, but not required.
• Experience working with children and families in urban communities preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build rapport with children, parents, teachers, and community partners.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to serving diverse populations.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems and agency software is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
