Job description

BH Zion, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior User Experience (UX) / Business Analyst to support the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) on two high-profile modernization initiatives that will transform how Maryland delivers financial aid and workforce service programs. This role combines user experience, business analysis, and human-centered design to create intuitive digital experiences while ensuring business and technical requirements are clearly defined. You’ll work alongside product managers, developers, stakeholders, and end users to deliver modern, cloud-based solutions that improve services for hundreds of thousands of Maryland residents.   • Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site with limited telework as approved. Travel to other Maryland offices may be required., As the Senior UX / Business Analyst, you will:
  • Lead user research, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and discovery sessions.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Create user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and backlog items.
  • Design user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and other UX deliverables.
  • Conduct usability testing and recommend improvements based on research findings.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders throughout the Agile development lifecycle.
  • Analyze existing business processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and improve the user experience.
  • Support accessibility standards and human-centered design best practices.
  • Assist with testing activities, user acceptance testing (UAT), documentation, and implementation.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and project documentation for technical and executive audiences.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in User Experience (UX), service design, product design, user research, business analysis, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years supporting complex enterprise or cloud-based applications.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, stakeholder interviews, and facilitated workshops.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and other UX artifacts.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, information architecture, and human-centered design principles.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
