Remote Test Administrator/Proctor

OpenEd Proctors and Test Administrators (or Proctors) support the high-quality delivery of K-12 assessment events across multiple states. This is a student- and family-facing role and serves as a professional representative of OpenEd during live assessment sessions.

This role is ideal for current or former teachers, school staff, and education professionals who are comfortable working with students, following testing protocols, and supporting academic assessments in a virtual environment.

Employment Structure: This role is employed through our staffing partner, Kelly Services. While your day-to-day work will support OpenEd’s testing programs and you’ll collaborate closely with our team, Kelly Services serves as the employer of record for payroll, onboarding, and employment administration.

Responsibilities include either:

• Administering assessments directly (often 1:1) as a Test Administrator, or
• Supervising and supporting testing sessions as a Proctor

The role also includes pre-assessment orientations and post-assessment record-keeping and data support.

OpenEd assessment events occur throughout the school year, with testing windows varying by district and state. Priority scheduling (typically between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, based on state time zones) is generally given to Test Administrators/Proctors who commit to 25 or more testing hours per week during active testing windows.

Role Requirements (All Candidates):

• Support a positive, calm, and professional virtual testing experience
• Consistently follow assessment scripts and test administration protocols
• Communicate clearly and professionally with students and families
• Contribute to accurate and timely data collection
• Maintain a quiet, professional testing environment
• Complete all required training, orientation, and certification prior to testing
• Comfort using Zoom or Google Meet and navigating digital tools
• Access to a computer with camera capabilities for video conferencing

Proctor Responsibilities:

• Monitor assessment sessions without administering the test directly
• Track student attendance, participation, and completion
• Provide live session support as needed
• Help students remain focused and on task
• Manage students and testers in virtual breakout rooms
• Assist with session data collection and record keeping

• Contractors set their own availability but must maintain a minimum of 25 open hours per week (up to 40 hours) during active testing windows
• Many contractors are invited back for multiple testing windows throughout the year
• Between seasons, contractors receive communication about future opportunities
