Job description

We are looking for an experienced Semiconductor System Engineer/Chip Architect to define and drive the system architecture of next-generation sensor IC solutions for automotive and industrial markets.

This role is a technical leadership role at the intersection of physics, electronics, and embedded systems, responsible for translating system requirements into silicon architectures. You will act as the technical authority from concept to silicon, ensuring performance, cost and time to market. You will interact with a wide variety of experts from various disciplines including functional safety experts., * Define the end-to-end system architecture for sensor ICs, covering analog front-end, digital signal processing and control logic incl. embedded MCU and interfaces;

  • Perform architectural trade-off analysis e.g. power, performance, cost, area, safety, development time;
  • Define partitioning between analog, mixed-signal, digital, embedded software and algorithms;
  • Derive chip-level requirements from system and customer use cases. Although not the primary customer interface you will lead expert discussions with customers as needed;
  • Contribute to functional safety & standard compliance. You will act as a key contributor and sparring partner for the functional safety engineers during definition of safety concepts incl. definition of diagnostic functions, monitors, redundancy, and related analysis such as FMEDA, FMEA, FTA, DFA;
  • Drive domain assignment for confirmation measures both Pre-Si as well as Post-Si and interface with related experts from lab validation teams, end-of-line test or product engineering.

Requirements

  • Degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field;
  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor/IC product development;
  • Proven experience in system architecture or chip-level design, deep knowledge of digital and analogue circuit design and system integration;
  • Ideally experience in one of the following areas: mixed-signal IC systems, sensor signal chains, level planning, digital control logic, digital signal processing, embedded microcontroller architectures, system modeling and simulation;
  • Experience of development for automotive, functional safety and cyber-security according regulated environment standards e.g. IAT16949, AEC-Qxxx, ISO26262, requirements engineering tools e.g. Doors, Polarion, Jama;
  • Proficiency in system design and simulation tools (e.g. Python, SciKit Learn, Matlab) or cadence based chip design and simulation tools.
