Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud-based SaaS Software Architect to assist with the design and development of our cutting-edge software platform while also playing a pivotal role in standardizing architectural practices and guiding technology choices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing, software architecture, and SaaS solutions. As a member of the Bynder architecture team, the candidate will be responsible for helping define the architectural vision, driving technical innovation, and ensuring scalability, reliability, and security primarily in a subset of our cloud-based SaaS offerings while aligning with engineering management and product in a team of teams structure. Additionally, they will lead efforts to standardize architectural documentation, evangelize design patterns and best practices, and assist teams in evaluating and validating technology choices for both new and evolving technical solutions., 1. Architectural Design: Assist in the design and development of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based SaaS solutions. Help define and document reference architectural approaches, including infrastructure design, microservices architecture, data models, and integration patterns.

  1. Standardization of Architectural Documentation: Establish and maintain standards for architectural documentation at multiple levels, ensuring clarity and consistency in architectural artifacts. Produce and maintain architectural documentation, including system diagrams, API specifications, and architectural decision logs, to facilitate communication and collaboration across teams.
  2. Evangelize Architectural Design Patterns and Best Practices: Promote architectural design patterns, principles, and best practices across the organization. Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and training programs to educate teams on effective architectural approaches and foster a culture of architectural excellence.
  3. Assist in Technology Evaluation and Validation: Collaborate with team stakeholders such as product and company leadership to evaluate, validate, and ensure technology choices and architecture for new and evolving solutions align with business needs and company objectives. Conduct technical assessments, proof-of-concepts, and comparative analyses to assess the suitability of technologies and frameworks for specific use cases and requirements.
  4. Stay Current with Emerging Technologies: Research emerging technologies and industry trends assessing their potential impact on the company’s products and services.
  5. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to both development teams and individuals helping ensure compliance with accepted guidelines and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, prioritize features, and drive architectural decisions.
  6. Managed Cloud, Data, and AI Expertise: Leverage expertise in AWS based cloud computing platforms to design and implement cloud-native solutions. Ensure optimal utilization of cloud services, such as compute, storage, databases, and networking, to meet performance, scalability, and cost objectives. A solid understanding of data architecture patterns and familiarity with emerging managed AI solutions.
  7. Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures to protect data and systems against threats and vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2, in the design and operation of the SaaS platform.
  8. Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize system performance through efficient resource utilization, caching strategies, and performance tuning techniques.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience..
  2. 10 years of proven experience designing and architecting cloud-based SaaS solutions, preferably in a high-growth startup or enterprise environment.
  3. In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms or Kubernetes with an emphasis on AWS but other platforms such as Google Cloud or Azure would be beneficial. Proficiency in cloud-native services, including compute, storage, databases, and networking.
  4. Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and architectural styles. Experience working with reactive, event driven microservice architectures.
  5. Experience with modern software development methodologies, such as Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
  6. Expertise with at least several programming languages including Scala, Python, Java, and Typescript.
  7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive innovative solutions.
  8. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical team members and non-technical stakeholders and work cross-functionally with teams.
  9. Familiarity with security best practices and compliance requirements for SaaS applications, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and audit logging.
  10. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business and technical requirements.
