Job description

  • Supervise and engage children in various camp activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Implement lesson plans that incorporate educational elements, including math concepts, while promoting teamwork and creativity.
  • Manage classroom behavior and provide support to children with special needs.
  • Administer first aid when necessary and maintain a safe environment.
  • Foster positive relationships with campers and their families through effective communication and support.

Requirements

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth has exciting summer employment opportunities for enthusiastic and knowledgeable Computer Science instructors in our summer programs for academically advanced students in 2nd-12th grades. As a CTY instructor, you lead a small class of academically advanced students through a rigorous and interactive three-week course with the support of a teaching assistant.

About the Course

Fundamentals of Computer Science - This course introduces students to three major areas of the computer science discipline: theory and algorithms, hardware systems, and software systems. In the theoretical component of the course, students will learn about algorithms, Boolean algebra, binary mathematics, and theory of computation. While studying hardware systems, they’ll become familiar with the physical components of computers, digital logic, computer architecture, and computer networks. As you investigate software systems, they’ll learn the elements of programming languages, compilers, computer graphics, and operating systems., * Significant lead teaching experience

  • Relevant degree(s).
  • Experience working with youth is strongly preferred.
