Job description
To support our rapid growth, CoolSys Energy Design - Consulting Engineers (CED) is seeking an Engineering Technology Software Developer to build and support the internal software tools, automation platforms, and data workflows used by our engineering and production teams. This is a software development role within an AEC/MEP environment. The ideal candidate is a developer who can learn engineering workflows, understand user problems, and build reliable tools that improve speed, accuracy, consistency, and documentation quality. Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain internal applications, automation tools, APIs, and backend services using Python, C#, .NET, and related technologies.
- Design tools that support engineering workflows such as model checking, data validation, calculations, documentation review, and quality control.
- Integrate with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, Power Platform, Excel, and other business systems.
- Work with Autodesk platforms and services, including Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Forma.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with appropriate unit testing, error handling, documentation, and version control.
- Help define deployment strategies, release processes, testing workflows, and support procedures for internal tools.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, BIM staff, and leadership to translate workflow problems into scalable technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot production issues, support users, and improve existing tools based on feedback and usage data.
- Contribute to long-term technology standards, reusable code libraries, data structures, and development practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related engineering field preferred.
- 3-5+ years of relevant professional experience in software development, automation, or application development in a BIM related role.
- Hands-on experience with Python and/or C#/.NET.
- Understanding of software fundamentals including APIs, data structures, testing, debugging, maintainability, and code organization.
- Experience with unit testing, source control, code reviews, and structured deployment practices.
- Ability to learn technical workflows quickly and build practical software solutions for non-developer users.
- Comfort working in small, agile teams and switching contexts as priorities evolve
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with engineers, designers, BIM staff, and business stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform preferred.
- Familiarity with AEC, BIM, MEP engineering, construction documentation, or design technology preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Autodesk software and cloud platforms such as Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Platform Services, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or Forma.
- Experience with SQL, Power BI, Power Query, reporting, analytics, or data pipeline development.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, packaging, deployment, logging, and production support.
- Interest in AI-assisted workflows, BIM automation, model health checking, AEC technology innovation.
