Job description

  • Develop, test, and deploy cloud-native applications and platform services using containerized, microservices-based architecture on Kubernetes (EKS)

  • Support development of event-driven integration components including event publishing, subscription, schema management, and message processing

  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs supporting platform services and tenant application integration

  • Implement automated unit, integration, and regression tests within CI/CD pipelines

  • Build, tag, and sign container images following approved pipeline processes with environment segregation across sandbox, staging, and production

  • Support implementation of dead-letter queue management, message replay capability, and fault-tolerant processing patterns

  • Develop onboarding guides, sample code, and reusable integration patterns enabling additional applications to integrate with platform services

  • Ensure all code follows secure coding standards and approved dependency management practices

  • Integrate required logging, metrics, and tracing standards into all developed applications for monitoring and observability

  • Support infrastructure automation through scripting, tooling, and automation frameworks that reduce manual operational toil

  • Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to remediate vulnerabilities identified through SAST, DAST, SCA, and container scanning

  • Support application teams with deployment activities, troubleshooting, and platform integration through ticketed and CCB-managed processes

  • Participate in code reviews and peer programming sessions

  • Participate in Agile and SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in software development for cloud-native, containerized applications in Federal or enterprise environments

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in cloud-native development (Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or equivalent)

  • Experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes deployment concepts

  • Familiarity with microservices architectures, RESTful API development, and event-driven design patterns

  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline workflows including automated testing and deployment processes

  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git, Bitbucket, or equivalent)

  • Understanding of secure coding practices and software supply chain security concepts

  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability concepts including logging, metrics, and tracing integration

  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments with sprint-based delivery cadences

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent certification preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, with at least 1 year developing cloud-native or containerized applications

  • OR

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years developing cloud-native or containerized applications

  • Plus:

  • Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) experience

  • Active Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card

  • Experience with Apache Kafka, Amazon MSK, or equivalent event streaming platforms

  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or equivalent certification

  • Experience with Helm chart development and Terraform IaC concepts
