Job description

The Sr. Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for the availability, security, performance, and recoverability of NICHD’s Oracle database environment, which supports 5 production databases across on-premises and Azure-hosted servers using Data Guard, GoldenGate replication, and multitenant architecture. This role supports the NICHD Data Mart and downstream application teams that depend on it., * Administer Oracle databases in standalone and multitenant architecture, on Windows/Linux/Unix, on-prem and in Azure cloud (Oracle 19c on Linux).

  • Maintain high availability and disaster recovery using Oracle Data Guard, RMAN backups, export/import, and GoldenGate replication and setup.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance: backups, patching, account/role/privilege maintenance, and technology upgrades.
  • Write and tune SQL and PL/SQL; perform performance tuning and troubleshooting across production and test environments.
  • Support the NICHD Data Mart, including nightly data loads, view creation for Power BI/Qlik Sense reporting, and DDL/DML execution as required.
  • Maintain Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) cloud control, Connection Manager, and Oracle Apex environments.
  • Support FISMA security requirements, including patching cadence, vulnerability remediation, and SA&A documentation as needed.
  • Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for installation, configuration, upgrade, and troubleshooting, per the HHS Enterprise Performance Life Cycle (EPLC) framework.

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of experience conducting Oracle database administration.
  • Extensive experience administering Oracle databases in standalone and multitenant architecture on Windows/Linux/Unix, on-prem and in cloud environments.
  • Extensive experience with Oracle Data Guard, RMAN backups, export/import, GoldenGate setup and configuration, and job scheduling/monitoring.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL, performance tuning, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Oracle Client.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle 19c, Oracle on Linux, and MySQL on Ubuntu.
