Job description

Install, configure, upgrade, administer, monitor, and maintain operationally efficient databases. Experience and knowledge in administration and in developing new dashboards or report development in the various platforms like Power BI, Power BI Administration , and Cloud databases like Azure Sql Server. This position will manage, secure, and optimize an organization’s data infrastructure and ensure data integrity, performance, and availability, often supporting high-tech innovation and critical system How does it get done?

Database Design and Implementation: Working with developers to design database structures, tables, and views and Capacity Planning with estimating future storage needs and managing hardware/software resources. Providing technical support to users and developing reports to analyze system usage.

Database Installation and Configuration: Setting up, installing, and configuring database servers in Azure Sql Server and Sybase. Also work on database Migration involving moving data from old systems to new systems.

Security and Access Control: Managing user accounts, permissions, and implementing security measures to prevent unauthorized access

Backup and Recovery: Implementing comprehensive backup and disaster recovery plans to prevent data loss.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Monitoring database health to ensure high performance, optimizing queries, and resolving bottlenecks. Also, includes monitoring server resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk I/O), scheduling and verifying database backups, updating security patches, optimizing slow-running SQL queries, and testing failover/recovery scenarios.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance tasks like patching, updating anti-virus software, and troubleshooting SQL errors.

Data Integrity and Maintenance: Ensuring data consistency and accuracy throughout its lifecycle. The position will support all the tasks in performing this function. The candidate will cross train other team members in this skill as a part of knowledge transfer and cross training the members in the team. Minimum Qualification

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in data analysis, design, storage, and security. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, lifting and reaching may be required. Ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy within strict time constraints. Frequent use of office machine and equipment. Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs. Occasional travel may be required. Occasionally work extra hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays Supplemental Information
