Job description

The Software Engineer I designs, develops and enhances software, firmware, contributing to code reviews and overall software architecture. This role sits within our Amsterdam, Netherlands location with or Power Systems business unit. This role plays a foundational role in supporting the development of innovative software solutions within the Navico Group PD&E division. This position is designed for recent graduates or individuals with limited industry experience who are eager to grow their technical skills in a collaborative and supportive environment. Under the mentorship of senior engineers, the Software Engineer I contributes to the full software development lifecycle - including design, coding, testing, and documentation - while gaining exposure to real-world engineering practices. This role emphasizes learning, adaptability, and teamwork, providing a strong platform for career progression in embedded systems and marine technologies., * Contribute to the development and maintenance of software applications.

  • Collaborate with team members to understand technical requirements and project goals.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities.
  • Learn and apply software development best practices and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in similar role
  • Academic or internship experience in software development.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C#, .Net MAUI).
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming, Windows/desktop basics and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and embedded systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with UX/UI design principles, unit testing, debugging UI and performance issues.

Working Conditions:

  • In office on a hybrid basis is required
  • Mostly office environment and in engineer labs.
  • May be required to perform field tests.
