Job description

AI is reshaping how organizations operate, increasing both the pace of innovation and the need for disciplined execution. As AI and agentic workflows become embedded in core business processes, organizations must rethink how they plan, govern, and execute-using data, automation, and modern operating models to move faster with greater clarity and control.

Microsoft Security sits at the intersection of identity, data, cloud, and AI. To lead in this environment, the organization must not only build world-class capabilities, but also continuously modernize how work gets done across strategy, planning, governance, and cross-functional execution.

Within the Executive Office, this role serves as a strategic builder of the organization’s execution engine. The Principal, Business Transformation, AI & Automation will redesign critical business processes, starting with roadmap management, and build the KPI, telemetry, and automation foundations that improve visibility, decision quality, and operating velocity. This leader will use data, collaboration signals, and AI-enabled workflows to reduce friction, strengthen alignment, and help Microsoft Security operate at the pace required in the AI era.

Responsibilities

  • Redesign the end-to-end roadmap process-including intake, prioritization, dependencies, sequencing, and governance-to improve clarity, alignment, and execution rigor.

  • Define and operationalize productivity metrics, in partnership with the CTO team, to improve delivery speed, roadmap predictability, decision velocity, and collaboration efficiency.

  • Embed AI and automation into core business workflows-including planning, roadmap management, reporting, and execution tracking-to reduce manual effort, accelerate decisions, and improve operating efficiency.

  • Leverage data and collaboration signals-including Microsoft Graph, Azure DevOps, and telemetry-to understand execution patterns and identify opportunities to improve organizational performance.

  • Identify friction across planning, collaboration, and delivery, and translate insights into simpler workflows that increase speed, alignment, and organizational velocity.

What Success Looks Like

  • Trusted productivity metrics provide real-time visibility into delivery speed, roadmap predictability, and decision velocity across the organization.

  • Core business processes are simplified, reducing friction across planning, collaboration, and execution in a complex, matrixed environment.

  • AI and agents are embedded in core workflows, materially reducing manual coordination and accelerating execution.

  • Data and collaboration signals-including Microsoft Graph, Azure DevOps, and telemetry-surface inefficiencies early and enable targeted, continuous improvement.

  • The organization delivers measurable gains in speed, productivity, and alignment-and operates with greater consistency at AI-era pace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 12+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in business operations, strategy, program management, or transformation roles, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with operating mechanisms such as roadmap management, planning, governance, or execution reviews.

  • Experience leading business transformation initiatives within product- or engineering-led organizations.

  • Track record of simplifying complex execution and collaboration challenges in large, matrixed environments.

  • Experience applying AI, agents, automation, or workflow technologies to simplify business processes and improve execution.

  • Proven ability to translate metrics and telemetry into actionable insights that improve delivery speed, predictability, and decision velocity, ideally with experience for Microsoft Graph, Azure DevOps, and telemetry.

  • Experience defining metrics, dashboards, or telemetry frameworks that support visibility and decision-making.
