Job description

Are you an experienced C# Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems where software directly controls real-world hardware?

We’re looking for a Senior C# Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of semiconductor metrology and inspection systems. You’ll work on software that controls high-precision motion systems, sensors, data acquisition platforms and advanced measurement technology used by leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.

This is a technical leadership role where you’ll influence software architecture, mentor developers, and work closely with engineers and scientists developing technology operating at the leading edge of semiconductor innovation.

If you enjoy building high-performance software for complex electromechanical systems rather than websites and business applications, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and developing high-performance C# applications for advanced semiconductor metrology systems
  • Creating software that controls precision motion platforms, sensors, actuators and measurement hardware
  • Supporting the evolution of software architecture, design standards and engineering best practice
  • Mentoring developers and helping grow capability across the software team
  • Collaborating with systems engineers, physicists, software architects and technical leaders
  • Leading sprint planning, estimation and delivery activities
  • Managing dependencies across software, hardware, LabVIEW and data analysis teams
  • Supporting integration, verification and release activities for customer-facing systems
  • Facilitating technical discussions and helping resolve complex engineering challenges
  • Remaining hands-on with development while contributing technical leadership across the team

Requirements

  • C# .NET Development
  • Industrial Automation
  • Precision Motion Control
  • Machine Control Software
  • Scientific Instrumentation
  • Semiconductor Equipment
  • Metrology Systems
  • Robotics and Automation
  • Real-Time Measurement Systems
  • High-Precision Engineering Environments

Essential experience

  • 5+ years of commercial C# software development experience
  • Developing production-grade software for engineering, automation or industrial systems
  • Strong understanding of C# .NET architecture and software design patterns
  • Experience with WPF or similar desktop UI frameworks
  • Multithreaded application development and concurrent processing
  • Agile software delivery and sprint-based development
  • Software quality processes including integration testing and controlled release management
  • Working with requirement traceability, design reviews and issue tracking platforms such as Jira
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or providing technical leadership to other engineers
  • Advanced AI capability

Nice to have

  • Semiconductor inspection or semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
  • Scientific instrumentation or metrology systems
  • Motion controllers, piezo actuators and high-resolution sensing technologies
  • Machine vision or image analysis systems
  • SCADA, HMI or Industrial IoT platforms
  • Python, C++ or other engineering-focused programming languages
  • TCP/IP networking and distributed systems
  • Cleanroom environments, regulated industries or functional safety standards, * Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related technical discipline

or

  • Equivalent commercial experience developing complex engineering software systems

About the company

Infinitesima develops advanced Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) technology that enables the next generation of semiconductor devices.

Our systems combine precision engineering, advanced physics, software and data science to solve measurement challenges at nanometre scale. As we continue to scale internationally, software plays a critical role in how our systems perform, communicate and deliver value to customers.

You’ll join a highly skilled team of engineers and scientists building technology used to support some of the world’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing environments.

This is a genuinely rare opportunity to combine C# software engineering, technical leadership and cutting-edge hardware development in one role.

Our strength lies in the varied perspectives that come from different cultures, experiences, and identities. We believe that true innovation is fuelled by collaboration, locally and globally. We strive to foster an environment where everyone can contribute meaningfully and thrive. If you require adjustments to take part in the recruitment process, please let us know, we’ll do our best to support you. A note on how we run interviews: We use AI only to transcribe our interviews so we can focus fully on you instead of scribbling notes. The AI does not take part in any decision making at any stage. All hiring decisions are made by real humans based on the conversation we have with you.
