Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role We are seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our engineering team in San Mateo, CA. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and scaling the infrastructure that supports our engineering organization. You will own AWS environments, Linux systems, virtualization platforms, build pipelines, monitoring solutions, lab infrastructure, and internal IT services while partnering closely with a global DevOps team to establish and maintain infrastructure standards. The ideal candidate has strong experience in AWS cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), Linux administration, and automation, along with prior experience supporting engineering teams in a Telecom/5G environment. Responsibilities * Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure in AWS. * Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform. * Develop automation to improve infrastructure deployment, reliability, and operational efficiency. * Administer Linux servers, virtualization platforms, monitoring systems, and engineering lab infrastructure. * Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads using Docker. * Implement secure cloud architectures, IAM policies, networking, and observability best practices. * Optimize cloud performance, cost, and deployment workflows. * Provide Tier-1 and Tier-2 internal IT support for engineering teams. * Coordinate with external IT vendors and support infrastructure-related projects. * Partner with global DevOps teams to establish infrastructure standards and operational excellence. * Support engineering environments, build systems, and test infrastructure used by development teams. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). * 3-5+ years of hands-on experience designing and managing AWS cloud environments. * Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies. * Solid Linux system administration experience. * Experience with AWS networking, IAM, monitoring, and cloud security best practices. * Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based environments. * Strong troubleshooting and automation skills. * Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Preferred Qualifications * Experience coordinating with external IT vendors. * Experience supporting compliance-driven or regulated engineering environments. * Experience working in startup or high-growth organizations. * Knowledge of firmware or embedded engineering environments. * Experience supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing infrastructure. * Working knowledge of LTE/5G technologies. * Experience with engineering lab equipment, test rigs, or robotics infrastructure. * Familiarity with SonarScanner, Pytest, or similar code quality tools. * Experience with Elasticsearch administration or migration projects.
