Job description
The IT Technician provides first-line technical support across all City departments. This role troubleshoots hardware, software, and communication devices while supporting inventory, staff training, and system updates to ensure daily operations run smoothly., * Serve as the first point of contact for technical support needs, troubleshooting desktop/laptop PCs, VoIP phones, cellular devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Respond quickly to support tickets, prioritizing issues to minimize downtime.
- Assist users experiencing credential, MFA, and access-control issues.
- Research best practices and new technologies and assist with implementation.
- Contribute to development of SOPs and assist with staff education.
- Train staff on City-issued devices and software.
- Monitor City devices for potential misuse or security concerns.
- Apply patches, updates, and security improvements to City devices.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of IT equipment, devices, and parts.
- Record and livestream City Council, Planning Commission, and other meetings.
- Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with general office equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work independently within established policies.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
- Associate degree in a related field.
- Two (2) years of helpdesk or computer repair experience.
- CompTIA A+ certification.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
