Job description
Location: On-site - DeKalb or Urbana, IL (with possible support to other Mid-Continent science centers) About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Program / Business Support Analyst to provide administrative, coordination, and program-support services to a federal science organization. You’ll keep projects on track, produce clear reporting, and be the organizational glue that helps scientists and managers focus on the mission. Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support using standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, email)
- Prepare, maintain, and distribute correspondence, reports, manuals, training materials, and documentation
- Track deliverables, schedules, and task-order activity; maintain automated tracking of personnel, due dates, and program data
- Prepare reports on cost, schedule, and technical progress; compile status updates and briefing materials
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and logistics; record and document meeting results
- Support program coordination across technical, budget, and management stakeholders
Requirements
- 5+ years of administrative, program-support, or business-analyst experience (federal environment preferred)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a related field
- Experience supporting the U.S. Department of the Interior or a federal science/research program
- Familiarity with deliverable tracking, project coordination, or technical writing/editing
