Job description

CarDr is seeking a detail-oriented, mechanically inclined Automotive Field Test Specialist to help validate new software releases before they are deployed to customers.

This is not a repair position. It is a hands-on technology validation role where you’ll test new software, verify diagnostic accuracy, document findings, and help ensure every release meets CarDr’s standards for quality and reliability.

This flexible, part-time position averages 10-15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform OEM-level diagnostic scans using the CarDr Ultra.

· Test pre-release software in real-world environments.

· Validate new features and verify bug fixes.

· Compare application functionality across Android and Apple devices.

· Document software issues with clear reproduction steps.

· Capture screenshots, photos, and videos when necessary.

· Submit detailed testing reports.

· Work closely with Product and Engineering teams.

Requirements

· Strong mechanical knowledge of automobiles.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Comfortable using mobile applications and technology.

· Strong written communication skills.

· Self-motivated and able to work independently.

· Reliable transportation.

· Android smartphone or tablet with the latest supported Android OS.

· Apple iPhone or iPad with the latest supported iOS/iPadOS.

· Reliable Wi-Fi or LTE/5G connectivity while performing vehicle testing to ensure software updates, synchronization, and reporting can be completed successfully.

· Regular access to an auto auction, dealership, fleet, or repair facility is strongly preferred.

Preferred

· Former mechanic or technician.

· Auction employee.

· Retired automotive professional.

· Experience with automotive scan tools and OBD-II.

· ASE Certification.

· AuctionAccess membership preferred.
