Job description

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of custom Embedded Linux distributions using Yocto Project tools.
  • Support system deployment, software updates, and configuration management activities.
  • Help implement security and reliability improvements across embedded platforms.
  • Develop and maintain embedded software using shell scripting, Python, and C.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software running on embedded hardware and connected devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and deploy new features.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for software solutions and processes.
  • Participate in problem-solving efforts to address technical challenges and improve system performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-5 years of software development experience, preferably in Linux or embedded environments.
  • Requires a consistent and dependable work history, ideally reflecting 3-5 years of tenure with each previous employer.
  • Experience working with Linux systems and command-line tools.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Python and POSIX shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with Git and source control best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and eager to learn new technologies.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (a plus, but not required):

  • Exposure to Yocto Project, Buildroot, or custom Linux distribution development.
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems or embedded software development.
  • Familiarity with U-Boot bootloaders.
  • Exposure to Linux device drivers.
  • Experience integrating open-source software into embedded envionments.
  • Basic understanding of IoT concepts and embedded security principles.
  • Exposure to microcontroller firmware development.
  • Familiarity with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
  • Experience working in Agile/SCRUM teams.
  • Familiarity with lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
