Job description

Make an impact by using your expertise to protect our country from threats., The Web Server Administrator is responsible for managing web server infrastructure to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of web services. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining web servers, troubleshooting server issues, and implementing security measures to protect web environments. The Web Server Administrator is also expected to be available for on-call work to address urgent issues and ensure continuous operation.

Installation and Configuration: Install and configure web server software (e.g., Apache, Nginx, IIS) and related components

Maintenance and Upgrades: Regularly update and patch web servers to ensure they are secure and performing optimally.

Monitoring and Performance Tuning:
- Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.

Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and potential issues.

Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect web servers from threats and vulnerabilities.

Backup and Recovery: Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability in case of server failure.

Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies.

Collaboration: Work closely with development and IT teams to support web application deployments and ensure smooth operation.

User Support: Provide support to users and developers for web server-related issues and inquiries.

Ticket-Based Support: Manage and resolve support tickets in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring user satisfaction.

Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by effectively communicating with users and stakeholders, addressing their concerns, and providing solutions.

Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline server management tasks.

Compliance:
- Ensure that web server operations comply with organizational policies and industry standards.

Maintain compliance with DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) standards and guidelines.
- On-Call Work: Be available for on-call support outside regular business hours to address urgent issues and ensure continuous operation of web services.
Requirements
Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Web Server Administrator must have:
- Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
- Experience: 3+ years of related experience
- Security clearance level: TS/SCI w/Poly

- Level II 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)

Role requirements:
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Strong understanding of network protocols, DNS, SSL/TLS, and web security practices.
- Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)., 3 + years of related experience

GlobalServices, The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
