Job description

  • Design and implement product data transformation processes for migration into BigCommerce
  • Re-architect product definitions, categories, variants, bundles, and product relationships
  • Map legacy database structures into scalable BigCommerce compatible catalog models
  • Develop repeatable workflows for catalog transformation and asset preparation, import/export processes, and validation procedures
  • Clean, normalize, and restructure large product datasets
  • Work alongside internal SQL/database resources responsible for source system analysis and database mapping and migration strategy
  • Handle ecommerce image transformation workflows including cropping, resizing, color correction, format optimization, and asset organization
  • Test and verify migrated product data within BigCommerce
  • Identify opportunities for workflow automation and process improvement
  • Help establish scalable catalog management practices for future growth, * Examples of ecommerce migration projects you personally led or implemented
  • Examples of product data restructuring or catalog normalization work
  • Details on how you handled legacy data transformation challenges
  • Your role in image processing or digital asset preparation workflows
  • Any BigCommerce API, integration, or migration tooling experience

Requirements

  • Experience with complex ecommerce platform migrations
  • Strong understanding of BigCommerce API capabilities and catalog architecture
  • Experience with product taxonomy and catalog modeling
  • Experience with data transformation and ETL-style workflows
  • Familiarity with CSV, JSON, API-based imports, and data synchronization processes
  • Experience modernizing or restructuring legacy ecommerce systems
  • Experience with ecommerce image processing and digital asset workflows
  • Ability to work with inconsistent, incomplete, or poorly structured legacy data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • ERP or PIM integrations
  • Middleware or migration tooling
  • Python, Node.js, or similar scripting for transformation workflows
  • Image automation workflows
  • Ecommerce data architecture
  • High-SKU or highly customized product catalogs, * BigCommerce API capabilities and catalog architecture: 2 years (Required)
  • eCommerce platform migrations: 2 years (Required)
  • ERP or PIM integration: 2 years (Required)

We are seeking an experienced Ecommerce Data Migration Lead to help migrate a legacy ecommerce platform into a modern BigCommerce environment.

This role is centered on complex product catalog transformation, data restructuring, migration workflow development, and digital asset preparation. The existing system has evolved over many years and includes legacy product structures and business rules that do not map directly into standard ecommerce models.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading or implementing complex ecommerce migrations and will be comfortable working across both technical data transformation and visual asset preparation tasks.
