Job description
Client’s Stock Plan Services organization is seeking a Product Owner to support and enhance the financial reporting, accounting, and forecasting capabilities within the EquiView recordkeeping platform. This role will focus on delivering solutions that help corporate clients manage the financial and accounting obligations associated with equity compensation programs while expanding strategic forecasting and modeling capabilities. The Product Owner will work at the intersection of equity compensation, financial reporting, accounting, product delivery, and client-driven innovation. This individual will partner closely with business stakeholders, finance and accounting teams, technology partners, and Agile delivery teams to transform complex business requirements into scalable product solutions. This is an opportunity to help shape a multi-year product roadmap that directly impacts client confidence, reporting accuracy, regulatory compliance, and financial decision-making for some of Schwab’s largest corporate clients., Product Ownership & Agile Delivery
- Serve as Product Owner for financial reporting, accounting, and forecasting initiatives within the EquiView platform.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog to ensure alignment with business objectives, client needs, and strategic roadmap priorities.
- Translate complex business, finance, and accounting requirements into well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with development, quality assurance, and business teams to drive delivery and ensure successful execution of product enhancements.
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and stakeholder review sessions within an Agile environment.
- Coordinate work across multiple scrum teams while managing priorities, dependencies, and delivery risks.
Financial Reporting & Accounting Solutions
- Drive enhancements to accounting, expense reporting, and SEC disclosure functionality supporting corporate equity compensation programs.
- Partner with finance, accounting, and compliance stakeholders to improve the accuracy, scalability, and usability of reporting capabilities.
- Support initiatives related to accounting treatment, expense calculations, disclosure reporting, and financial reporting workflows.
- Ensure solutions meet the needs of corporate clients managing complex equity compensation plans and reporting obligations.
- Help prioritize and execute a long-term roadmap aimed at modernizing and improving financial reporting capabilities.
Forecasting & What-If Modeling
- Support development of forecasting and scenario-modeling capabilities that allow corporate clients to evaluate future equity compensation decisions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements for modeling stock grants, expense impacts, share dilution, employee turnover assumptions, and other financial scenarios.
- Help design tools that enable finance and executive stakeholders to assess potential business outcomes before equity awards are issued.
- Partner with business and technical teams to enhance forecasting functionality and support future growth of the product.
Stakeholder Management & Client Engagement
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders, product leadership, development teams, and quality assurance organizations.
- Balance client-driven enhancement requests with strategic product objectives and delivery commitments.
- Build strong relationships with finance, accounting, compliance, and technology partners to ensure alignment and execution.
- Communicate priorities, roadmap progress, and delivery outcomes to leadership and key stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve product capabilities, streamline workflows, and enhance client experiences.
- Support ongoing modernization efforts across financial reporting and forecasting functions.
- Leverage stakeholder feedback, analytics, and business outcomes to guide prioritization and future enhancements.
Requirements

- Ability to learn equity compensation over time Alternative viable profile
- A finance/accounting professional who may not have deep PO experience but has enough business acumen and adaptability to be groomed into a Product Owner role.
- Manager specifically indicated some flexibility here: if someone has strong accounting or finance experience, they may not need to be a fully formed Product Owner from day one if they can grow into that function., * 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or related role.
- Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery environments.
- Proven ability to manage product backlogs, define requirements, and prioritize competing demands.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience translating complex business requirements into actionable development work.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to thrive in an evolving environment with changing priorities and ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Finance, Accounting, Financial Reporting, or Financial Services.
- Experience supporting accounting systems, financial reporting platforms, forecasting tools, or financial applications.
- Understanding of equity compensation programs, stock plans, or related financial products.
- Familiarity with expense accounting, SEC disclosure reporting, financial modeling, and forecasting concepts.
- Experience working with corporate finance, accounting, compliance, or executive business stakeholders.

Knowledge of reporting, analytics, and data-driven product solutions., The ideal candidate brings a combination of strong Product Ownership capabilities and financial acumen. While experience with equity compensation is highly desirable, candidates who possess a solid finance or accounting background and the ability to quickly learn a specialized domain will be strongly considered. Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Strong Product Owner leadership and Agile delivery experience.
- Finance or accounting knowledge with the ability to understand complex financial concepts.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and creating structure around evolving priorities.
- A collaborative, utility-player mindset with the ability to work across business and technical teams.
- Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn niche areas of equity compensation and corporate financial reporting.
- The ability to balance short-term delivery commitments with long-term product strategy and modernization efforts.
