Job description

The SQL Engineer is responsible for supporting the manufacturing facility by monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining data integrity across business systems. This position works closely with plant leadership and business stakeholders to identify data inconsistencies, improve system functionality, and support business decision-making through SQL data analysis and reporting., The SQL Engineer assists with the planning and design of new business systems by documenting workflows, developing process maps, and ensuring system requirements are thoroughly defined. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate manufacturing data while supporting continuous process improvement initiatives throughout the organization., * Monitor manufacturing data and business systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data input and output.

  • Work closely with plant managers and business owners to identify and resolve data-related issues affecting operational performance.
  • Analyze SQL database tables to identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Develop SQL queries and reports that provide meaningful operational data for business decision-making.
  • Identify and communicate system issues that require development or application support.
  • Monitor operator interaction with manufacturing systems to identify opportunities for improving data accuracy and process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to gather business requirements and support the design of new system solutions.
  • Create detailed workflow diagrams and process maps documenting system architecture, user interactions, manufacturing processes, machine interfaces, and data acquisition points.
  • Assist with planning and documenting new software enhancements and business system requests.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to management and business stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing data collection and reporting processes.
  • Maintain documentation for system workflows, business processes, and application enhancements.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, * Primarily office environment with regular exposure to a manufacturing facility.
  • Frequent interaction with production, engineering, quality, and IT personnel.
  • May require occasional after-hours support for system implementations or production-related issue.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Data Science
  • Business Analytics
  • Related technical field
  • Experience writing SQL queries and analyzing relational databases.
  • Experience interpreting and presenting business or manufacturing data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience creating workflow diagrams and process documentation.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong SQL query development and database analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret large data sets and identify trends or anomalies.
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to understand business processes from end-to-end.
  • Excellent organizational and project planning skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with process mapping software (Visio or similar) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally walk throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
