SecureTech Computer Scientists make a difference every day in support of the nation. Some of the responsibilities we handle: Applies mathematical and software engineering principles and disciplines to the building of software systems. Develops software applications, conducts experiments, and collaborates with other professionals to innovate technology solutions. Designs, develops, and integrates software. Designs algorithms, writes code, and optimizes software systems to improve functionality and efficiency. Can combine research, design, development, testing, and sustainment to support complex software systems that directly support the mission. Uses advanced software engineering methodologies and agile principles to ensure high quality, scalable, and secure software solutions to evolving technical and operational requirements. Plans, schedules, and coordinates all software actions on assigned projects. Acts as computer scientist and technical consultant for work involving both application and development of mathematical, statistical and computer-simulated models and applications. Can lead the research, design, development, testing, and sustainment of complex software systems that directly support the mission. Provides mentorship and shares knowledge and lessons learned with other junior scientist and new team members. Typical specific tasking is commensurate with background/expereince.

Requirements

At minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field - an additional four (4) years of relevant experience can substitute for the degree!

  • Relevant experience required is such as theoretical or applied computer science, simulation or model development, mathematical model development, algorithm analysis, design, or development, reverse engineering, or hardware/software engineering. A minimum of two (2) years with a Bachelor’s degree, four (4) years with an Associate’s degree, or six (6) years with a H.S. diploma (or GED) for entry level.
  • There are multiple opportunities for computer scientists at various levels of experience - compensation is commensurate with qualifications.
