Job description
GEM is seeking an experienced Shopify developer to take full ownership of our eCommerce platform and integrations. This role will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our Shopify site, managing custom functionality, and supporting integrations with NetSuite ERP (via Celigo). This is a high-impact role in a small team, requiring strong technical ability, ownership, and flexibility.
The primary responsibility of this position will be to develop, maintain, and support our Shopify eCommerce site and platform integrations. This includes custom app development, integration configurations, front-end theming, and more. This is primarily a backend and functional development role, focused on building reliable systems, integrations, and scalable functionality rather than visual design. However, the ideal candidate should be comfortable working within existing design frameworks and able to modify or create themes based on established design concepts. This role will coordinate with both the marketing and IT departments to provide a functional solution and a high-quality customer shopping experience. You will take over responsibilities currently handled by third-party consultants and become the internal expert on our platform., * Own and maintain Shopify site (theme, performance, UX)
- Manage and extend existing custom apps and codebase
- Own, support, and optimize Shopify * NetSuite integration (Celigo)
- Troubleshoot issues across site and data flows (orders, inventory, customers)
- Build new features and functionality as needed
- Support marketing initiatives (landing pages, tracking, promotions)
- Improve site speed, performance, and conversion
- Coordinate with marketing and IT departments to provide a world-class eCommerce experience
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with Shopify development
- Strong proficiency in Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Experience with Shopify APIs and custom app development
- Experience working with integrations/APIs including GraphQL and REST (ERP experience a plus; Celigo is a bonus)
- Experience with React, Node, and PostgreSQL
- Ability to read, understand, and work within an existing codebase
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of data flows and system integrations
Nice to Have:
- Experience with NetSuite or ERP systems
- Experience with Celigo integrator.io
- eCommerce optimization or CRO experience
- Familiarity with analytics/tracking tools
- Experience taking over and maintaining an existing, highly customized Shopify environment
