Job description

We are seeking a skilled Network & Hardware Administrator based in the Tampa area to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be critical to building, scaling, and maintaining our rapidly growing fleet of high-performance AI infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability for our customers’ workloads.

This is a contract-to-hire position: an initial 2-3 month contract with explicit intent to convert to full-time W2 status upon satisfactory performance. You’ll split time between onsite hardware work and remote system administration, with up to 40% remote flexibility for administrative tasks.

As you learn the ropes and gain familiarity with our infrastructure, you will take on increasing responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of our business, and you will be rewarded accordingly., Primary Technical Responsibilities

  • Network Operations: manage network design, configuration, routine maintenance, troubleshooting & router/switch hardware deployment across multiple data center sites
  • Systems Administration: remote Linux system administration, including OS installation, disk imaging, benchmarking & hardware troubleshooting
  • Hands-on Hardware Management: in-person server/workstation installations, component upgrades, structured cabling, diagnostics & repairs
  • Monitoring & Reliability: develop, optimize & maintain network, server & power monitoring systems for automated alerting & reliability
  • Business Continuity: maintain & test incident response plans, disaster recovery protocols & secure data backup systems
  • Infrastructure Security: firewall management, VPN administration, access controls & regular firmware/OS patching

Operational & Administrative Responsibilities

Procurement & Logistics: assist with IT procurement, vendor management & fulfillment of site-to-site hardware shipments

Lifecycle Management: secure decommissioning & liquidation of retired hardware assets via specialized secondary markets (e.g., corporate eBay liquidation)

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of direct hands-on experience in network administration, IT support, or data center operations
  • Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Mellanox, Mikrotik or similar enterprise equipment (including BGP, LACP, VLANs, DHCP, OpenVPN/Wireguard)
  • Intermediate proficiency assembling, troubleshooting & repairing enterprise servers, workstations, enthusiast-grade PC hardware, printers or other IT equipment
  • Beginner-to-intermediate Linux system administration, installation & configuration skills
  • Ability to be on 24/7 on-call for major infrastructure/network outages, and availability during general waking hours for single machine breakdowns
  • Valid driver’s license & ability to travel locally/domestically to data center sites as required
  • Degree (Bachelor’s/Associate’s) or certs (Network+, A+, CCNA) highly valued, not required if balanced by strong hands-on experience

Nice-to-Have

  • Intermediate-to-advanced Linux OS proficiency
  • Cybersecurity certifications or experience
  • GPU marketplace host experience (Vast.ai, Runpod, Tensordock, Quickpod)
  • Crypto mining / blockchain infra ops (Ethereum, Flux, Bittensor)
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Ray, TrueNAS/NFS, Ceph experience
  • Scripting & AI-assisted development
  • Packet capture experience (tcpdump, Wireshark)

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive compensation with base salary and potential performance bonuses
  • Contribute to the global rollout of high-performance AI infrastructure
  • Take meaningful ownership and set precedents in a fast-growing startup
