Job description
The Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) IT Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Software Development to lead a team of application developers in a working-manager capacity. This position plays a critical role in guiding technical direction, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and supporting enterprise-level workforce systems., * Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of five application developers using AGILE methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Serve as a working manager by actively participating in coding, debugging, and peer code reviews.
- Design, develop, maintain, and support web applications using Visual Studio .NET technologies, including C# and VB.NET.
- Administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server (2022 or higher), including performance tuning, database security, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of development initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, product owners, and business analysts to define system requirements and manage product backlogs.
- Provide technical guidance on system architecture, application design, and best practices to ensure scalable and sustainable solutions.
- Monitor project progress, resolve technical challenges, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

Requirements

This role operates within an AGILE environment and requires the ability to manage the full software development lifecycle., * Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Azure DevOps and/or GitHub, including building, managing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of AGILE methodologies and principles, supported by relevant Agile or Microsoft certifications, with the ability to apply these practices in a team environment.
- Experience with cloud-based development within Microsoft Azure, including developing or supporting agent-based solutions and services.

Bachelorâs degree in computer science or an IT related field or other related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and six years progressive experience including at least three years of experience in supervisory capacity; or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or other related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years progressive experience including at least three years of experience in supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
