Hardware Engineer IV

• We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering (EE) Validation Engineer to support hardware validation of next-generation smart glasses, working closely with the validation lead.
• In this role, your primary focus will be monitoring validation progress, reviewing Contract Manufacturer (CM) test reports, analyzing failures, and coordinating with EE design partners to drive issues to closure.
• You will also guide CM engineers on measurement procedures and perform hands-on Power Integrity (PI)/Signal Integrity (SI) debug when needed.
• While you must possess strong hands-on measurement skills, the majority of your time will be spent interpreting data, tracking issues, and ensuring problems are resolved efficiently.
• You will not own final validation decisions, but you are expected to be technically strong enough to flag risks, recommend actions, and keep execution on track under the lead’s direction., * Review Contract Manufacturer (CM)-generated validation reports, verify data quality, analyze failures, and drive issues to closure.
• Coordinate with Electrical Engineering (EE) design partners and cross-functional teams to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Track validation progress, maintain issue tracking, and communicate risks, blockers, and status updates.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide technical guidance to Contract Manufacturer (CM) engineers on measurement techniques and validation processes.
• Perform hands-on Power Integrity (PI) and Signal Integrity (SI) measurements, debugging, and prototype bring-up.
• Validate measurement setups, troubleshoot complex hardware issues, and develop new measurement methodologies when required.
• Characterize Direct Current to Direct Current (DC-DC) converters, validate power sequencing, power rail stability, battery charging circuits, and Power Distribution Network (PDN) performance.
• Perform high-speed interface validation for Mobile Industry Processor Interface Camera Serial Interface (MIPI CSI), Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C), Inter-IC Sound/Pulse Density Modulation (I2S/PDM), Universal Serial Bus (USB), and Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART) while analyzing signal integrity and timing issues.
• Review Printed Circuit Board (PCB) schematics and layouts to support debugging, probe access, and design testability improvements.
• Collaborate with firmware, layout, and hardware teams to ensure successful hardware validation and milestone execution.

• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering.
• 4+ years of Electrical Engineering (EE) hardware validation experience with strong emphasis on Power Integrity (PI) and Signal Integrity (SI).
• Proven ability to analyze test data, identify root causes, and drive issues to closure with cross-functional teams.
• Experience reviewing test reports for correctness, identifying gaps, and driving follow-up actions.
• Ability to develop test procedures that others execute-clear technical writing, structured Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and annotated diagrams.
• Strong schematic reading skills-trace signal paths, understand power distribution, map circuit function from schematics and datasheets.
• Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout review experience-assess probe access, SI/PI risk, and debug strategy.
• Expert-level knowledge of lab instruments: high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, power rail probes, active/differential probes, current probes, and spectrum analyzers.
• Experience with Direct Current to Direct Current (DC-DC) converter characterization and high-speed digital signal measurements.
• Solid understanding of transmission line theory, impedance matching, and flex Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Signal Integrity (SI) challenges.
• Strong communication skills-ability to explain complex Electrical Engineering (EE) issues clearly to Contract Manufacturer (CM) teams and design partners., * Experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) or Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) in a validation support capacity.
• Experience with wearable, mobile, or Internet of Things (IoT) hardware (space-constrained, low-power designs).
• Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) measurement, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)/Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Transmit (TX) power, sensitivity, and antenna return loss.
• Familiarity with Prototype (Proto), Engineering Validation Test (EVT), Design Validation Test (DVT), and Production Validation Test (PVT) build cycles and New Product Introduction (NPI) environments.
