Job description
We are looking for an intermediate-level Backend Engineer (Consultant) to join our Next Gen Modernization team. In this role, you will be focused entirely on backend development and data engineering, supporting our strategic initiative to migrate our group’s legacy workloads off IBM DB2 and into a modern AWS cloud architecture. This is a 100% backend role-thereis zero front-end or UI development required. You will be responsible forbuilding data pipelines, integrating APIs, and helping transition our dataecosystems to modern cloud-native solutions., * Backend Development: Write clean, maintainable Java code to support core backend systems and integration layers.
- Database Migration Support: Assist in the NextGen modernization process, migrating legacy schemas and data away from DB2 and into AWS.
- Data Pipelines & Serverless: Build, deploy, and monitor data flows using AWS Glue for ETL processes and AWS Lambdas for event-driven serverless computing.
- Data Warehousing: Work with AWS Redshift to load, manage, and optimize data storage for analytics and reporting.
- API Ingestion: Develop and maintain reliable integration points to ingest data from various internal and external APIs.
Requirements
- Experience Level: 4-6 years of professional backend software development experience (Intermediate level).
- Core Language: Strong proficiency in Java and core backend development practices.
- AWS Cloud Toolkit: Hands-on experience working within the AWS ecosystem, specifically utilizing AWS Glue and AWS Lambdas.
- Data Warehousing: Practical experience working with AWS Redshift.
- Data Integration: Proven experience with API ingestion and handling structured/unstructured data formats (JSON, XML).
