Job description

Squire Technologies is looking for a Graduate Software Engineer to join our Engineering Department on a permanent, full-time basis. Based in Wareham, Dorset, this hybrid role offers hands-on experience within a successful UK telecoms technology company.

Established in 2001, Squire Technologies Ltd provides carrier-grade telecoms products and services to the global telecommunications industry, with deployments in more than 100 countries. Our office is within walking distance of Wareham train station and has on-site parking.

What you’ll be doing

You will support software development activity across our telecoms products and services, including:

· Writing test specifications, developing software and performing unit testing

· Improving automated product testing and supporting software release processes

· Analysing faults, fixing bugs and contributing to product improvements

· Using source code control and updating support cases within the CRM system

· Providing technical backup to support, installation and production teams where required

Requirements

  • A degree or relevant academic background in software engineering, computer science or a related subject

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming, ideally with Java experience

  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational database design and web fundamentals such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP and REST

  • Ability to read and write clear technical documentation

  • Logical problem-solving skills, enthusiasm for technology and a willingness to learn

  • Good communication skills, with a proactive, organised and conscientious approach

  • Exposure to Git/SVN or languages such as C, Java, SQL or Python would be an advantage
