The Technical Product Owner I supports product-aligned technology delivery teams in delivering secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions that support firm objectives. Working under the guidance of senior product and technology leaders, this role collaborates with business stakeholders and technical teams to help translate business needs into actionable work, maintain prioritized backlogs, and support delivery processes focused on achieving business outcomes. The Technical Product Owner I develops foundational product ownership and familiarity with development frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, etc., while contributing to delivery planning, backlog management, and continuous improvement efforts. This role partners with cross-functional teams to support small, frequent releases, improve product quality, and gain experience balancing business priorities with technical and operational needs. The Technical Product Owner I operates with growing independence while receiving coaching and mentorship from Technical Product Owner II and senior team members. What You Will Do
- Support maintenance and prioritization of product and technology delivery backlogs under the guidance of senior product owners and stakeholders.
- Assist in defining product goals, sprint objectives, and delivery priorities to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Support delivery planning activities, including identifying risks, dependencies, and potential impacts to delivery timelines.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of product and platform roadmaps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, QA, platform, security, and operations, to facilitate successful delivery outcomes.
- Participate in development framework ceremonies, such as planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Translate business and stakeholder requirements into clear user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Help track delivery metrics, team progress, and execution health, providing updates to stakeholders as appropriate.
- Support testing, validation, and release activities to help ensure solutions meet business requirements.
- Assist in coordinating small, incremental releases that deliver value while reducing implementation risk.
- Partner with Technical Product Owner II team members and technical leaders to develop product ownership, prioritization, and delivery management skills.
- Continuously learn and apply product management and development framework practices to improve team effectiveness and delivery outcomes.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Understanding of Agile delivery frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, DevOps)
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), product lifecycle, and technology delivery processes
- Experience gathering, documenting, and translating business requirements into actionable work items
- Ability to support backlog refinement and prioritization activities
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and maintain attention to detail, * Bachelor’s degree, technical/trade school education, or equivalent experience
- Product management, Agile, Scrum, or related certification
- Experience supporting software development, product management, product ownership, business analysis, project coordination, or technology initiatives
- Experience creating requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Familiarity with Agile and other software delivery methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and business processes quickly
- Experience supporting product, platform, infrastructure, or technology enablement teams
Benefits & conditions
Pursuant to Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range displayed is for the Colorado market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Total compensation and benefits consist of salary, group health plan benefits, 401(K), profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave. Forvis Mazars reserves the right to make changes to the salary range based on business needs.
