Job description

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a passionate and accomplished team specializing in testing space vehicles and subsystems, you will be working at the intersection of program management, engineering, testing, and integrated supply chain organizations, improving team effectiveness and coordination, and ensuring that the right people are working together to solve problems and deliver high quality test results on time.

You will use your project management and engineering skills to organize. You will be accountable as a TPM for planning, executing, and monitoring projects/test campaigns according to strict deadlines in accordance with high level program schedules. You will be expected to build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders on factor these relationships health and importance into your project management decisions and approach. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Bias for action and passion for our mission and vision are required! This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. This assignment requires attention to detail, highly developed communication skills, execution with urgency, and the ability to work under minimal direction., Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Requirements

  • B.S. Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering Management or similar
  • 4+ years’ experience program, business, or project management in a development environment.
  • High level understanding of aerospace component testing (types of tests, test-life-cycle, etc.).
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, including managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Able to quickly build and navigate a professional network within a new organization, including with Responsible Engineers, buyers, other embedded TPMs, and other support personnel.
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Self-starter, strong bias for action and sense of ownership.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Desired:

  • MBA or M.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or systems engineering.
  • Experience with launch vehicle development, production, and operations and aerospace qualification test programs.
  • Experience with verification, integration, and test, of orbital launch vehicles or human rated spacecraft.
  • Demonstrated success working with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of high quality products.
  • Knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo-valves, flexible elements, and fittings, as well as test specific instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of avionics and electrical components, such as LRUs, batteries or data systems, including software and test specific instrumentation.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience. Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
