Job description

We are seeking a flexible, reliable, and customer-focused IT Desktop Support Engineer for an on-demand, dispatch-based contractor role supporting client sites across the Boston, MA area.

This is not a full-time guaranteed-hours position. Work assignments will be scheduled based on client service requests and operational requirements. Candidates must be comfortable with a flexible schedule and be available to travel to client locations on short notice when dispatched., * Provide onsite desktop, laptop, and end-user technical support.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, Windows OS, and basic network connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, replace, and deploy desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Support printers, docking stations, monitors, and basic AV equipment.
  • Perform basic network patching and cable connectivity tasks.
  • Diagnose and resolve end-user technical issues while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Document and update support tickets accurately.
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level support teams when necessary.
  • Maintain professional communication and deliver excellent onsite customer service., Candidates must bring and maintain their own IT support toolkit for every onsite assignment, including:
  • Laptop (for diagnostics and ticket management)
  • Console cable
  • LAN/Ethernet cables
  • Basic screwdriver/tool kit
  • RJ45 to USB adapter

Requirements

  • Previous experience in IT Desktop Support, EUC Support, Field Services, or Deskside Support.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, LAN connectivity, patching, and cabling).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in onsite environments.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations as assignments are received., * Reliability, professionalism, and responsiveness are essential for success in this role.
