Job description

If you’re a Java Developer looking for more than another CRUD application or internal business system, this could be exactly what you’re after., This is a hands-on development position where you’ll work across the full lifecycle of software delivery-from understanding customer requirements through to design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

Projects range from bespoke web applications and middleware through to integrations with existing enterprise platforms, giving you exposure to a broad range of technical challenges rather than working on a single product.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Designing and developing Java applications
  • Building robust backend services and APIs
  • Working with SQL databases and Linux-based environments
  • Developing bespoke software and middleware solutions
  • Contributing to technical design and architecture discussions
  • Testing, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Producing software releases and supporting deployments
  • Working closely with customers and internal technical teams to understand requirements
  • Continuously improving software quality, performance and maintainability

As part of a small engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to influence technical decisions and see your work make a genuine impact.

Requirements

You’ll already have a few years of commercial Java development experience and enjoy solving technically challenging problems.

We’re looking for experience with:

Essential

  • Commercial Java development
  • SQL
  • Linux (ideally Red Hat or Rocky Linux)
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills
  • Experience working throughout the software development lifecycle

Desirable

  • Spring Boot
  • JPA / Hibernate
  • RESTful APIs
  • Git
  • JavaScript or modern web technologies
  • Experience integrating complex systems

Above all, we’re looking for someone who enjoys learning, takes pride in producing high-quality software and wants to work on projects that genuinely matter.

Security Clearance

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance.

Applicants should also hold a full UK driving licence, as occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
