Job description

The Data & Business Analysis Tutor/Assessor is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across the Data Analyst (ST0118), Data Technician (ST0795) and Business Analyst (ST0117) apprenticeship standards.

Working closely with apprentices, employers and colleagues, the postholder will support learners in developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become competent data and business professionals. The successful candidate will combine recent occupational industry experience with outstanding coaching and teaching practice to prepare apprentices for successful End Point Assessment (EPA) and sustained career progression.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching, Learning & Assessment

The postholder will deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences that develop apprentices’ occupational competence and support achievement across the apprenticeship standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, delivering and reviewing teaching, learning and assessment that meets the requirements of apprenticeship standards and awarding organisations.
  • Supporting apprentices to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required within their occupational role.
  • Delivering engaging learning using current industry practice, real workplace scenarios and a range of teaching methodologies.
  • Assessing learner progress through a variety of assessment methods and providing timely, developmental feedback.
  • Preparing apprentices for successful End Point Assessment through effective coaching, professional discussions and project support.
  • Embedding digital skills, professional behaviours, safeguarding and British Values throughout the learner journey.

Curriculum Delivery

Deliver curriculum that reflects current industry practice and enables apprentices to apply learning confidently within the workplace.

This includes developing learners’ understanding and application of:

  • Data analysis, interpretation and reporting to support informed business decision-making.
  • Business analysis principles, stakeholder engagement and business improvement techniques.
  • Digital technologies and analytical tools used within modern organisations.
  • Information governance, cyber security, data protection and ethical working practices.
  • Communication, collaboration, critical thinking and continuous improvement within professional environments.

The postholder will continually review and update curriculum content to reflect changes in technology, employer requirements and apprenticeship standards.

Learner Progress & Support

The Tutor/Assessor will manage an agreed caseload of apprentices, providing high-quality support throughout their apprenticeship journey.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring learner progress and maintaining high levels of engagement.
  • Conducting regular progress reviews with apprentices and employers.
  • Setting meaningful SMART targets that support timely achievement.
  • Identifying barriers to learning and implementing appropriate support strategies.
  • Promoting independent learning, resilience and professional confidence.

Employer Engagement

Develop positive partnerships with employers to ensure apprenticeship delivery reflects current industry practice and organisational needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building effective relationships with employers and workplace mentors.
  • Supporting employers to identify suitable workplace projects and learning opportunities.
  • Providing advice on apprenticeship requirements, workplace evidence and learner development.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure apprentices develop occupational competence within their role.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Support OTM Apprenticeships Limited’s commitment to outstanding quality and continuous improvement by:

  • Maintaining accurate learner records and documentation.
  • Ensuring delivery complies with ESFA funding rules and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Participating in internal quality assurance, standardisation and curriculum development activities.
  • Supporting audit readiness and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintaining awareness of Ofsted expectations and best practice in apprenticeship delivery.

Safeguarding, Prevent & Equality

The postholder will:

  • Promote safeguarding and learner welfare at all times.
  • Embed Prevent Duty, British Values and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion throughout delivery.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
  • Report safeguarding concerns promptly in accordance with organisational procedures.
  • Complete all mandatory safeguarding and Prevent training.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance within the role will be measured through:

  • Learner retention and timely achievement.
  • End Point Assessment success rates.
  • Learner and employer satisfaction.
  • Quality of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Compliance with funding and quality requirements.
  • Contribution to curriculum development and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Applicants will possess:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (Level 3 Award in Education and Training or above), or a willingness to achieve.
  • A recognised assessor qualification (CAVA, A1 or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve.
  • A degree, professional qualification or equivalent occupational experience in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Business Management, Computer Science or a related discipline.

Essential Occupational Experience

Applicants must demonstrate substantial, recent occupational experience within data and/or business analysis functions., Applicants should be able to demonstrate practical experience of analysing business information, interpreting data, supporting organisational improvement, engaging with stakeholders and presenting findings that inform business decision-making.

Recent occupational competence within these disciplines is considered essential.

Desirable

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience delivering apprenticeship standards.
  • Knowledge of End Point Assessment requirements.
  • Experience using business intelligence and data visualisation technologies.
  • Experience of project delivery or change management.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as BCS, IIBA or the Chartered Management Institute.
  • Experience of working within education, training or apprenticeship delivery., * Bachelor’s (required)
