Job description

We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive IT Technician to provide on-site, day-to-day technical support at a primary school in Stanmore. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining the smooth operation of IT systems, resolving technical issues, and supporting staff and students in their use of technology., * Deliver on-site, first- and second-line IT support to staff and students at the primary school.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, connectivity, and user access.
  • Maintain IT equipment such as desktops, laptops, printers, projectors, and tablets.
  • Support the installation and configuration of new devices and software applications.
  • Carry out routine system maintenance, updates, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Assist with the setup and support of AV equipment for assemblies, events, and lessons.
  • Record and document support tasks and resolutions to contribute to the service knowledge base.
  • Collaborate with the regional AIT support team to escalate complex issues and ensure continuity of service.
  • Assist in managing school IT assets, including inventory tracking and equipment lifecycle support.
  • Promote and support the safe and effective use of technology within the school setting.

Requirements

  • A diploma, associate degree, or equivalent qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a technical IT support role, ideally within a school or education setting.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking environments.
  • Experience with Windows OS, Microsoft Office 365, and commonly used school software.
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when supporting non-technical users.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently while being part of a wider support team.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft certifications) are desirable.
