Job description

Job Overview Working under the direction of the Network Manager, the IT Technician will take day-to-day responsibility for providing 1st and 2nd line technical support across the school, resolving hardware and software issues, and ensuring seamless IT infrastructure for students and staff. This is a crucial role supporting teaching, learning, and administrative operations across a modern educational environment., * Provide efficient 1st and 2nd line support via the school’s helpdesk system, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network faults

  • Maintain, configure, and deploy desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, interactive whiteboards, and AV equipment
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and security settings across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace
  • Assist with network maintenance, printer fleet management, software installations, and regular system backups
  • Maintain an accurate hardware and software asset register, managing equipment stock and repairs
  • Support staff and students in using educational software and digital learning tools effectively

Requirements

A forward-thinking secondary school in Buckinghamshire is seeking a skilled, proactive, and customer-focused IT Technician to join its dedicated digital services team on a permanent, full-time basis., * Proven experience in an IT support, helpdesk, or technical service desk environment (school experience is an advantage, but not essential)

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and standard networking concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a logical, methodical approach to troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, user-focused attitude when supporting teachers and students
  • An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
