We are a growing financial services firm seeking a hands-on Data Application Developer Contractor to design, build, and support internal business applications and data workflows using Microsoft Azure and the Power Platform. This is a 3 month project for a specific application.

This is a builder-focused role for someone who enjoys turning business requirements into practical, data-driven solutions. You will work directly with stakeholders to develop applications, automate workflows, design data models, and support our growing Azure and Power BI environment.

This is not a reporting-only, analytics-only, or low-code support role. We are looking for a hands-on developer who can own data-driven applications from concept through production. Responsibilities:

  • Design and build internal applications using Azure SQL, Power Apps, and Power Automate
  • Create and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and workflow automation processes
  • Design scalable relational data models and write efficient SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Integrate and manage data flows between internal and third-party systems
  • Support and enhance Power BI datasets, reporting, and analytics capabilities
  • Partner directly with business users to gather requirements and deliver solutions
  • Own solutions end-to-end, including design, development, deployment, support, and documentation
  • Continuously improve existing applications, workflows, and data processes, * Establish clean and maintainable data models in Azure SQL
  • Build reliable data processing and automation workflows
  • Expand Power BI reporting capabilities
  • Become a trusted technical partner to business teams

Requirements

  • Strong SQL and relational data modeling experience
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database or similar database platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Experience building data-driven business applications and internal tools
  • Ability to design and implement data ingestion and transformation workflows
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes, * Experience with Power BI, including data modeling
  • Exposure to Azure services such as Functions, Storage, or Data Factory
  • Experience in financial services or regulated industries
  • Background building workflow-driven or batch-processing systems
  • Familiarity with data validation, reconciliation, and audit processes, * Builder mindset focused on delivering working solutions
  • Strong data, SQL, and business logic skills
  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Values simplicity, maintainability, and practical execution
  • Able to translate business needs into effective technical solutions
