Job description
- Designs and develops mechanical, electromechanical, structures, and weapons systems in the form of new products, components, advanced prototypes, and maintenance of mature designs.
- Investigates design factors including interchangeability, replaceability, maintenance, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost.
- Applies Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to product and component design solutions.
- Creates technical data packages (TDP) for all detail design, subassemblies, and final assemblies including modeling, drafting, and checking drawings.
- Evaluates and provides engineering dispositions to non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Applies knowledge of aerospace fabrication practices, tolerances, and design standards for machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly.
- Applies knowledge of aerospace drafting standards and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Uses 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for modeling and drafting.
- Applies knowledge of aerospace surface treatments and metallurgy.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure product designs meet program requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret, TS, or TS/SCI level.
- Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
- Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college or university with three to eight (3-8) years of professional engineering design experience, or a minimum of ten (10) years of professional design experience without a degree.
- Experience with 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for modeling and drafting.
- Knowledge of aerospace fabrication practices, tolerances, and design standards for machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly.
- Knowledge of aerospace drafting standards and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Knowledge of aerospace surface treatments and metallurgy.
- Experience creating technical data packages including models, drawings, and checking drawings.
- Experience applying Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Experience evaluating and providing dispositions to non-conformance reports., Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) to comply with ITAR regulations.
