Job description

SourceFS is a high-performance virtual filesystem designed to turn multi-hour workflows into minutes.

  • 10x Faster Builds: Intelligent caching and virtualization that only materializes files when they are actually needed.
  • 10x Lower Costs: Enabling a standard 16-vCPU machine to outperform even a 128-vCPU machine.
  • True Engineering Productivity: Replaying hundreds of thousands of build steps instantly when inputs match., We are looking for an Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our world-class team. This isn’t just an operational ā€œmaintenanceā€ role; you will be software-engineering the engine that powers tens of thousands of daily builds, ensuring our platform is as resilient as it is rapid., * High-Throughput Infrastructure: Build the foundation for CI/CD, developer environments, and AI workloads-supporting a massive volume of builds every single day.
  • Optimization Strategy: Develop advanced autoscaling, multi-layer caching, and storage strategies that balance peak performance with cost efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Own the observability and reliability of the platform, ensuring we maintain a ā€œgold standardā€ of uptime and system health.
  • Developer-Centric Tooling: Create sophisticated monitoring and internal systems that make managing infrastructure at scale feel effortless for both our team and our customers., * AI-Native Infrastructure: We merge deep systems expertise with AI to solve the ā€œimpossibleā€ - using AI to automate complex merges and conflict resolution for the next generation of devices.
  • Architect the Future: Have a direct, visible impact on the infrastructure used to build the world’s most advanced hardware.
  • Early-Stage Ownership: You’ll have a seat at the table to shape our technical roadmap, product direction, and culture from day one.
  • Tier-One Partnerships: Work side-by-side with world-class customers, from global automotive giants to leading cloud providers.
  • Elite Engineering Culture: Join a high-trust & passionate team of engineers

Requirements

  • Coding-First SRE: You are a software engineer at heart with a strong programming foundation. You write clean, production-grade code, build robust internal tools, and treat infrastructure challenges as software problems.
  • The AWS Expert: You have a deep, practical mastery of AWS, moving fluently between compute, networking, storage, and IAM.
  • Automation First: You believe that manual work is a bug. You have extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform.
  • Scale-Hardened: You come from an SRE or Production Engineering background, having navigated the unique challenges of running large-scale distributed systems in the wild.
  • The Orchestrator: Skilled in Kubernetes and EKS, knowing exactly how to squeeze the best performance out of containerized workloads.
  • Systems Thinker: You have a sharp eye for trade-offs, understanding how to navigate the delicate balance between performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Our Tech Stack: We do development in Rust & python. You should have strong coding experience in either Python, C++, Java (or similar modern languages). Prior Rust experience is NOT required, but strong willingness and excitement to learn is.
  • Low Ego, High Impact: Beyond being a brilliant engineer, you are a thoughtful and empathetic teammate-someone who leads with kindness and values the success of the group.
  • Feedback Culture Champion: You embrace feedback and provide it thoughtfully; you see open, honest communication as the foundation of great teamwork.

About the company

Our founders spent over a decade at Google shaping the Android operating systems - building and shipping the software that now runs on billions of devices. They didn’t just use Android; they led teams responsible for the Android Virtualization Framework, Security, and the Android Runtime (ART).

Through that journey, they saw a quiet but massive crisis: as device software grew in complexity, the tools used to build it remained stuck in the past. Today, a standard Android checkout exceeds 200GB of code, and builds can take hours. This ā€œwait timeā€ is the single biggest tax on innovation.

Source.dev was founded to reimagine software development workflows for device makers. We’re building a new generation of software tools that make building complex device software feel as simple as building a webpage - starting with SourceFS.
