Data Governance Analyst- York or London

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Governance Analyst to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension and will be a hybrid role based in York or London., * Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and business stakeholders to improve data quality and governance practices.

• Identify, assess, and manage data quality risks across critical business data assets.
• Support the development, governance, and certification of data products within cloud-based data platforms.
• Define and maintain metadata, data lineage, business glossaries, and data quality standards.
• Drive stakeholder engagement and promote the benefits of strong data governance and data quality practices.
• Support data classification and metadata tagging activities, including governance of sensitive and PII data.
• Collaborate with technical teams to embed governance controls throughout the data product lifecycle.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the organisation’s data governance framework.

Our client is expanding their Data Governance function and is looking for an experienced Data Governance Analyst to support a growing portfolio of data initiatives. Working within a small but growing team, you will play a key role in improving data quality, supporting the development of data products, and driving the adoption of data governance best practices across the business. This is a highly stakeholder-facing role requiring strong communication skills and the ability to influence and educate stakeholders on the value of robust data governance and quality., * 4-7 years’ experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management, or a related discipline.

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders across the business.
• Experience working closely with Data Owners and Data Stewards to deliver governance outcomes.
• Strong understanding of data quality frameworks, data governance principles, metadata management, and data stewardship.
• Experience supporting the creation, management, or governance of data products.
• Knowledge of data classification, data lineage, metadata management, and PII governance.
• Experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• Experience with Google Dataplex would be highly advantageous.
• Exposure to Databricks and Snowflake is desirable.
• Ability to translate technical data concepts into business-friendly language and build stakeholder buy-in for governance initiatives.
• Experience within Financial Services or another regulated industry would be beneficial.
