Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform team. This role sits at the center of our engineering ecosystem - you’ll work across the full development lifecycle, building and maintaining the shared infrastructure, core services, and tooling that our product teams depend on every day. The Platform team at VibeIQ owns three critical pillars of the product.

  • Engineering Foundation - the infrastructure, security and authentication, monitoring, identity systems, service patterns, and SDK stewardship that everything else is built on.
  • Platform Services - the core services that power the product, including search, file management, change history, user and group management, workspaces, and the type and policy system.
  • AI Infrastructure - the patterns, infrastructure, and deployment guidelines for MCP and agent systems, including token management and throttling.

You’ll operate with significant autonomy, own ambiguous technical problems end-to-end, and make decisions that affect the trajectory of the entire engineering organization. This is not a role where you execute against a narrowly scoped backlog. You’ll identify what matters, define how to solve it, and drive the work from design through production - often across team boundaries., * Design, build, and maintain the core platform services and infrastructure that power VibeIQ - search, file management, identity, authentication, workspaces, and more.

  • Own major components and multi-month initiatives end-to-end - from technical design through deployment and monitoring.
  • Build and maintain AWS infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency across the platform.
  • Define and enforce service patterns, best practices, and engineering standards that product teams build on.
  • Own and evolve security and authentication systems, monitoring tools, and observability across the stack.
  • Steward platform SDKs - ensuring they are well-designed, documented, and maintainable.
  • Design and build AI infrastructure - including MCP patterns, agent systems, and token management and throttling.
  • Partner across teams to identify platform needs, reduce friction, and close gaps in shared capabilities.
  • Contribute to technical strategy, including evaluating new technologies and making build-vs-buy recommendations.
  • Debug and resolve critical production issues across distributed systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and raise the technical bar for the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering
  • Deep, hands-on experience with AWS - you should be comfortable across Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, OpenSearch, IAM, and related services
  • Experience designing and maintaining scalable, distributed backend systems (Node.js and TypeScript preferred)
  • Strong understanding of security and authentication patterns in cloud-native environments
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and operational tooling for production systems
  • Demonstrated ability to own ambiguous technical problems, define requirements, and drive solutions independently
  • Comfort working across a broad surface area - platform engineers at VibeIQ touch everything from core infrastructure and identity systems to search, file services, and AI tooling
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across distributed systems
  • Clear, effective technical writing - design docs, runbooks, and documentation that others can act on without follow-up
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills - you can explain technical tradeoffs to engineers, product managers, and leadership alike
  • Startup mentality: comfort with ownership, fast iteration, and wearing multiple hats, * Experience with AI/LLM infrastructure - MCP, agent frameworks, or similar patterns
  • SDK design and stewardship for internal or external consumers
  • Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch at scale
  • Familiarity with SaaS integrations (PLM, DAM, PIM, or ERP systems)
  • Experience managing hosting costs and optimizing cloud spend
  • Experience with automated testing strategies and testable system design
  • Exposure to frontend technologies (Angular or React)
  • Contributions to developer experience initiatives - internal tooling, platform documentation, onboarding workflows
