IT Systems and Operations Manager

California Miramar University is a growing institution, and we’re hiring an IT Systems and Operations Manager to lead our IT operations and scale the technology that powers our campus. This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership: you’ll guide a small IT team, run our core academic systems, lead a major platform migration, and help build the tools and infrastructure that will support us as we grow.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and mentor a 2-person IT team, setting priorities and clarifying responsibilities.
• Own day-to-day operations of our Student Information System (SIS) and Learning Management System (LMS) - configuration, access, troubleshooting, and data integrity.
• Lead the migration from Anthology and Moodle to Populi for both SIS and LMS functions.
• Coordinate with vendors and partner with faculty, staff, and university leadership.
• Improve help desk and ticket escalation workflows, and support faculty, staff, and students with their technology needs.
• Build and maintain documentation, SOPs, and training for staff and faculty.
• Apply cybersecurity best practices and keep our systems supporting academic, administrative, compliance, and student services operations.
• Oversee scaling of IT systems, processes, and infrastructure as the university grows.
• Build new AI-powered tools that help staff and students get answers and resolve issues faster.

• 3-5 years of relevant IT experience, including experience in a higher education environment.
• Hands-on experience with both a Student Information System (SIS) and a Learning Management System (LMS).
• Experience managing or mentoring a small team.
• Strong skills across user support, troubleshooting, reporting, permissions, data integrity, and vendor coordination.
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Anthology, Moodle, and/or Populi.
• Experience leading SIS/LMS migration or implementation projects.
• Familiarity with higher-ed compliance, accreditation, enrollment, registrar workflows, student records, and system integrations.
• Experience creating SOPs, improving help desk workflows, and managing technology vendors., * Do you have at least 3 years of experience in an IT support (or 5 years without a degree)?
• Have you worked in a higher education setting (college, university, or technical institute)?
• Do you have experience overseeing or managing a Learning Management System (LMS), such as Populi, Moodle, Anthology, or similar?
• Have you managed or led an IT support team or supervised other technical staff?
• Are you available to work from 9:30am - 6:00pm, Monday - Friday, with occasional later hours to support evening classes, and occasional travel to San Jose, CA?
