Job description

As a Sr. Oracle SQL Analyst, you will be responsible for extracting, validating, analyzing, automating, and maintaining operational data within large-scale Oracle transactional database environments. This role focuses heavily on hands-on Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development against highly normalized transactional databases rather than traditional business intelligence or data warehouse environments. You will work directly with business stakeholders to understand complex reporting and analytical requirements, develop SQL solutions from scratch, and deliver accurate, reliable, and actionable data to support operational, regulatory, research, and executive decision-making needs., * Develop, maintain, and optimize complex Oracle SQL queries, PL/SQL procedures, packages, and scripts.

  • Write advanced SQL solutions directly against normalized Oracle transactional databases.
  • Analyze business requirements and independently determine the appropriate database tables, joins, relationships, and business rules required to answer complex business questions.
  • Extract, validate, transform, and analyze large volumes of operational data for reporting and analytical purposes.
  • Develop and maintain automated SQL processes, database jobs, and recurring data refresh procedures.
  • Troubleshoot SQL code, database jobs, data inconsistencies, and operational reporting issues.
  • Create efficient, reusable, scalable, and well-documented SQL and PL/SQL solutions.
  • Support recurring operational reports, KPIs, compliance reporting, research projects, and executive data requests.
  • Validate data accuracy and ensure consistency across reporting and analysis deliverables.
  • Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and analytical objectives.
  • Document data sources, business rules, query logic, and reporting methodologies.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Optimize query performance and database resource utilization.
  • Support ad hoc reporting requests and complex data investigations.
  • Provide technical expertise related to Oracle database structures, relationships, and operational data management.

Requirements

  • Strong experience developing Oracle SQL solutions from scratch within transactional database environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL programming and development.
  • Proven ability to work directly with highly normalized Oracle transactional databases.
  • Experience analyzing business requirements and translating them into complex SQL-based solutions.
  • Strong expertise in writing complex joins, subqueries, common table expressions, aggregates, and performance-optimized SQL statements.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated database jobs and scheduled processes.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization concepts, and data relationships.
  • Experience performing data validation, reconciliation, transformation, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ability to independently identify the data sources, tables, and relationships needed to answer business questions.
  • Experience troubleshooting data quality issues, query performance concerns, and operational reporting challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting operational reporting, KPI reporting, research initiatives, and executive reporting requests.
  • Ability to interpret complex business requirements and communicate analytical findings clearly.
  • Strong documentation skills for SQL code, business rules, and reporting processes.
  • Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience supporting Tableau dashboards or other data visualization platforms preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
