Job description

Artex Group is seeking a highly skilled and mission-focused Physical Security Engineer to support the Department of Justice (DOJ). In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring the integrity and protection of federal personnel, facilities and critical infrastructures across the client environment. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help maintain a secure environment, supporting national security objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical government operations while developing your expertise in physical security engineering and physical security technology platforms., * Conduct security assessments, vulnerability analyses and risk mitigation planning for DOJ operations in support of 300 facilities ranging from large district HQ offices to single room storage spaces located throughout the 94 United States Attorney’s districts.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and operational security issues and provide technical support to client personnel in support of any physical security systems issues, via phone, email or on-site if required. Provide project scope of work (SOW) and service tickets coordinating with appropriate staff and vendors to restore issues to complete operational order.
  • Monitor Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) communications network status. Coordinate with IT Staff and monitoring company to resolve any issues.
  • Complete security design package including SOW’s and drawings. Work with security installers on planning software and hardware upgrades, new installation projects and other security equipment projects.
  • Maintain physical security systems to include but not limited to: Hirsch and Software House Access Control, intrusion detection systems (IDS), closed circuit video (CCV), perimeter protection technologies, ballistic protection, and duress systems.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with IT staff regarding security system shared interests, to include Personnel Control System (PACS) certificate validation, IP CCTV, new equipment/system testing in lab environment, etc.
  • Participate in physical security surveys and inspections, as requested, throughout the 94 district facilities to determine if designated areas meet accepted standards for the safeguarding of life, property, assets and classified information.
  • Assist in drafting results of surveys and inspections to include detailed evaluations and recommendations for review and revision, and the generation of cost estimates and/or statements of work.
  • Apply appropriate security standards during building design, upgrade and/or renovation phases prior to occupancy of new, upgraded or renovated USAO space. Integrate all physical, technical and system security requirements into overall security design using AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project/Word.
  • Provide assistance to USAO field offices on physical security standards, especially during project development.
  • Assist in review of alteration, expansion and new construction documentation to identify security related items that require revision or further clarification to meet appropriate standards.
  • Participate in project meetings with Facility Management, field offices, GSA and their selected building contractors.
  • Coordinate installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of security systems with the client, federal partners and security vendors.
  • Support compliance with federal standards and regulations, including ICD 705; NIST guidelines; DOJ and DHS security directives; federal facility security standards.
  • Support continuity of operations planning and emergency response coordination.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and security recommendations as requested by the EOUSA or USAO leadership.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure convergence between physical and logical security systems.
  • Support special projects and studies affecting the overall security of USAO facilities and property.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Visio?, * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Security Management, Information Technology or related field (or 8 years of equivalent professional physical security experience designing, engineering, programming, and installing complex physical security systems operations composed of network access control, closed circuit TV, intercoms, vehicle barriers, duress alarms and other complex ancillary systems).

  • 4+ years of experience in physical security engineering, systems engineering, systems integration, or federal security operations.
  • 4+ years of experience with large-scale design, installation and programming of enterprise security systems such as access control systems, intrusion detection systems (Bosch and DMP), and IPCCTV systems (Bosch, Pelco, AXIS, and American Dynamics).
  • Experience designing complex security systems and developing point-to-point wiring diagrams, and plotting symbols.
  • Working knowledge of IP Networks to include addressing, routers, network cabling and servers.
  • Working knowledge of NEC governance of low and medium voltage systems, network infrastructure, and integrated security architecture.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with FIPS-201 and FICAM standards for federal facility PIV access and ISC guidelines for non-military U.S. federal facilities.
  • Experience supporting secure government environments and safeguarding information pertaining to national security.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to support 10% CONUS travel.
  • Ability to lift 75lbs., * Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Professional certifications such as: Software House Ccure 9000; Hirsch/Velocity.
  • Desired familiarity with the design and maintenance of high security garage entry barriers/gate arms and building entry portals such as: Boon Edam Tap 250; Boon Edam Tourlock 180.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles related to physical security systems.
  • Experience with SCIF construction requirements.
