Job description

Come join Intuit as a Principal Software Engineer! We’re constantly evolving to deliver on our mission to power prosperity around the world. As a Principal Engineer, you’ll shape Intuit’s long-term technical direction. You’ll anticipate problems that need new solutions, lead the conversion of existing systems to AI-native, and drive decisions that span business units. You bring deep software engineering craft alongside strong applied AI experience. Intuit is a global technology platform that helps consumers and small businesses overcome their most important financial challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate challenges that need fundamentally new solutions and shape Intuit’s long-term technical direction

  • Design scalable, resilient, and adaptive systems that unlock innovation, velocity, and value

  • Recognize where AI applies within complex systems and lead the conversion of existing systems to AI-native architectures

  • Make tradeoffs across AI techniques and algorithm choices to ship reliable, production-grade software

  • Identify, champion, and integrate industry-leading or new technologies that create competitive advantage

  • Set engineering standards for quality, security, and maintainability that others adopt

  • Align stakeholders across teams and business units; drive execution and unblock delivery

  • Coach technical leaders; advise senior leadership on team structure and engineering practices

Requirements

  • 12+ years developing systems and software for large scale business environments

  • 8+ years designing complex distributed systems, platforms, or business applications

  • Hands-on experience integrating AI into production software, ideally driving AI projects standalone with commoditized AI tools and agentic workflows.

  • Experience modernizing systems toward AI-native patterns; experience driving AI architectural decisions across multiple teams a plus

  • Full-stack experience with modern AI/ML platforms (Vertex AI, SageMaker, Bedrock), LLM APIs, agent orchestration frameworks, vector databases, and Python.

  • Depth in at least one of:

  • Front-end: React, Angular, SwiftUI (iOS), Kotlin (Android)

  • Back-end: Java, TypeScript, Spring, Node.js

  • Production experience in AWS or GCP

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred

  • Track record of influencing technical strategy across business units and aligning executives

  • Strong mentor; able to develop technical leaders and shape engineering culture

  • Excellent communicator; makes decisive technical calls in ambiguity

  • Drives results across cross-functional, globally distributed teams
