Job description
Join us as a Working Student Compliance Engineering (all genders) in our Cloud & Platform Engineering team and help shape the future of autonomous mobility!
Join us as a Working Student Compliance Engineering (all genders) in our Application Security team and help shape the future of autonomous mobility!
Our Application Security Team is a group of cybersecurity experts providing shared security services for MOIAâs autonomous driving operations. Sitting within the Cloud System Development Department, we safeguard the systems that power the next generation of urban mobility. We work at the exciting intersection of cutting-edge technology, regulatory compliance, and artificial intelligence - ensuring that as our autonomous vehicles move forward, they do so securely and in full compliance with evolving legal frameworks.
This is a unique opportunity to pioneer the emerging field of Compliance / Legal Engineering - where law meets code. As autonomous driving technology accelerates, so does the complexity of the regulatory landscape surrounding it. Weâre looking for a curious, motivated working student who wants to build the bridge between legal compliance and technical automation. Whether you come from a legal background with a passion for technology, or a technical background with a fascination for law and standards, youâll find meaningful work here that shapes how an entire industry approaches compliance.
What you will do
- Design and deploy agentic AI workflows to automate compliance processes for autonomous driving operations (e.g., via AWS Bedrock AgentCore).
- Implement automation solutions that translate complex regulatory requirements (e.g., EU AI Act, NIS2, CRA, GDPR, etc.) into enforceable technical controls.
- Work hands-on with compliance automation platforms (e.g., Vanta) and cloud security posture management tools (e.g., Wiz) to monitor and maintain our compliance posture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including security engineers, data scientists, autonomous driving safety experts, legal counsel, risk management, and audit functions - to identify and address compliance gaps.
- Research and map applicable legal frameworks and international standards (e.g., ISO 27001, ISO 21434, SOTIF, type-approval regulations, etc.) to our technical infrastructure.
- Contribute to the development of internal tooling and CI/CD pipelines that embed compliance checks directly into software delivery processes (e.g., via MCP servers).
- Support the creation of documentation, reports, and dashboards that communicate compliance status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Explore emerging approaches to regulatory technology (RegTech) and propose innovative solutions to keep MOIA ahead of evolving requirements., Are you curious, motivated, and eager to learn? So are we! Our student community is made up of around 30 passionate individuals based in Hamburg and Berlin. We come together every quarter to exchange ideas, share exciting projects from our daily work, and simply enjoy each otherâs company-whether itâs a deep dive or a relaxed coffee chat.
As a student or intern at MOIA, youâll take on meaningful, high-impact projects that contribute directly to our mission. Youâll collaborate closely with your team, who will support you in setting goals, offer mentorship, and help you grow both professionally and personally.

- To support your personal development and for you to take ownership of projects and processes, you should be enrolled for at least one year.
- You communicate with clarity and confidence in English (C1 CEFR level) comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment (must have requirement)
- You bring a genuine interdisciplinary mindset: if youâre from a legal background, you have a strong hands-on interest in AI, coding, and technology implementation (actual code, not just theory or AI laws); if youâre from a technical background, you have a real curiosity about law, regulation, and standards in autonomous driving
- You are proficient in at least one programming or data manipulation language or have a demonstrated willingness and ability to learn quickly
- You have foundational knowledge of - or eagerness to develop skills in - cloud computing (primarily AWS) and/or cybersecurity principles
- You understand (or want to learn) CI/CD concepts and modern software development practices
- You are self-driven, organized, and able to manage your time effectively in a remote-first setting
Bonus points if you bring:
- Experience (including internships or academic projects) in autonomous driving, automotive, software development, cloud computing, or compliance
- Familiarity with regulations such as the EU AI Act, NIS2 Directive, Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), GDPR, or similar
- Exposure to international standards like ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 21434, frameworks from NIST and ENISA, or regulatory environments outside of Germany
- Project management skills or experience coordinating work with multiple stakeholders
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds - even if you donât meet every requirement. If youâre excited about the role and MOIAâs mission, weâd love to hear from you!
