Job description

Seeking an experienced Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support a mission-critical federal program. This position is ideal for a Linux professional with deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, enterprise automation, networking, and security hardening who enjoys working in highly secure production environments. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing enterprise Linux infrastructure while helping automate system administration, improve operational efficiency, and maintain compliance with federal security standards., * Design, administer, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9) server environments.

  • Perform advanced Linux administration and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) from the command line.
  • Develop automation and administration scripts using Bash, Python, Perl, or JavaScript.
  • Automate system configuration and lifecycle management using Ansible and Red Hat Satellite.
  • Manage enterprise package deployment across geographically distributed Linux environments.
  • Configure and administer Firewalld, NFTables, IPTables, SELinux, DNS (ISC BIND), TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, SMTP, and Postfix.
  • Support Linux clustering, NFSv3/NFSv4, PXE boot environments, and enterprise storage.
  • Deploy and maintain Mirantis Container Runtime (Docker) environments.
  • Support AWS-hosted Linux infrastructure and GitLab-based CI/CD workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, and system performance issues.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the Linux environment.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of enterprise Linux/UNIX administration.
  • Current RHCSA, RHCE, or RHCA certification.
  • Expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9).
  • Strong scripting experience with Bash, Python, Perl, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with Ansible and Red Hat Satellite.
  • Experience with AWS, GitLab, and Mirantis Container Runtime (Docker).
  • Strong networking knowledge including DNS, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, Firewalld, IPTables, and SELinux.
  • Experience implementing Linux security hardening and compliance standards., * Experience supporting federal government or DoD programs.
  • Infrastructure automation and DevOps experience.
  • Experience supporting highly available production systems.
  • Technical leadership or mentoring experience.
