Job description

The Server Engineer is responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting GrafTech’s server infrastructure, including servers located in the corporate data center and remote environments. This role supports the stability, performance, and availability of enterprise systems while also assisting with day-to-day technology support for end users.

This position is well suited for someone who enjoys working across a variety of technologies, can troubleshoot unexpected issues, and is willing to step in wherever needed to support business operations.

Repsonsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise server environments, including data center and remote server infrastructure.
  • Monitor server performance, availability, capacity, and reliability; troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Support day-to-day IT operations and assist end users with escalated technical issues, system access, and technology-related problems.
  • Support Microsoft 365 administration and related enterprise collaboration tools.
  • Assist with SCCM/Intune migration activities and endpoint/server management initiatives.
  • Work with internal team members and external vendors to troubleshoot, resolve, and follow through on technical issues.
  • Build, install, configure, patch, and troubleshoot servers and related infrastructure as needed.
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, including periodic testing of recovery procedures.
  • Assist with documentation of procedures, configurations, support processes, and system changes.
  • Participate in infrastructure improvement efforts and support practical, value-added technology solutions for the business.
  • Support project work as assigned, including planning, coordination, implementation, and follow-through with IT team members and vendors.
  • Maintain a customer-focused, responsive approach when supporting business users, IT team members, and operational technology needs.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support as needed to support a 24x7 technology environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, relevant technical certifications, military training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience administering, maintaining, and supporting enterprise server environments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and support.
  • Experience supporting SCCM, Intune, or similar endpoint/server management tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to Windows Server, TCP/IP, Active Directory, and enterprise infrastructure support.
  • Ability to support vendor-based technology solutions and coordinate with external service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues, identify practical solutions, and follow through to resolution.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize support needs, and respond to urgent business technology issues.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced business environment.
